I'm just procrastinating hopping in the shower and getting to work... =) It's been a really good year so far. What more can I say? I'm booked solid studying for certs... working on a deal with KSBY to allow for the local soaring association (SLOSA) to put a weather station up at Cuesta Peak. It's looking very promising. Studying for CCNP exams... have the remaining three scheduled every two weeks starting on Monday. Also have Foundry training coming up, the county has recently purchased two of their load balancers which seem to me to be excellent, relatively simple to set up, and well reviewed.
I had a $50k monitoring budget that I officially used $0 of to roll Nagios out with. This leaves me with $50k to spend, and we are really playing with it -- So far we've ordered a few Picotux's and Gumstix's to play with for testing and remote logging/trap reception/diagnosis/who the hell knows.
We are also going to get the entire infrastructure team at the county going to Red Hat courses scattered over the next year. Greg and myself, so far, are interested in just taking the rapid-track to RHCE course and then RHCA classes. The rest of team, that doesn't have all that much experience, I'm getting set up to walk through several courses each over different weeks.
LPIC-3 looks like it's about ready to (finally) be released. Along with the addition of the RHCA, my certification goals have morphed slightly. They are: RHCA, LPIC-3, CCNP, MCSE. So far I have the LPIC-2, CCNA (and 1/4 of CCNP), and MCSE. Don't hate me for my MCSE! The county paid for me to get it!
Anyways... that was an overwhelmingly self-directed post, as usual.
